COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE
Collaborative divorce is a great option for separating spouses who’d rather avoid the courtroom and work things out together. It’s all about teaming up with your legal experts to find solutions that work for both sides when it comes to asset division, child custody, and other important issues. With a focus on cooperation, respect, and open communication, it makes the whole process smoother and less stressful. Think of it as a respectful, positive way to navigate the challenges of divorce, where both partners have a voice and can shape their futures together.

GUARDIANSHIP/CONSERVATORSHIP
Minor guardianship is when someone the child already knows steps in to care for them because the parents are unable or unwilling to due to their circumstances. It helps make sure the child has a stable and nurturing environment despite the challenges the parents might be facing. This is distinguishable from children entering the dependency system where they may be placed with a foster family and the state is involved in their care.

Adult guardianship is when someone is appointed for an individual over age 18 because that individual is unable to meet their basic needs and there’s a significant risk of harm without a guardian.

A conservatorship is when a court appoints someone (the conservator) to help manage another person’s care or finances because they can’t do it themselves due to a number of factors. It ensures they get the support they need, whether it’s short-term or long-term.
